CAS:<p>5-Chlorofuran-2-carbonitrile is a potent A2A receptor antagonist. It also inhibits the binding of adenosine to its receptor, which may be due to the aminomethyl group at C5 and the presence of a nitrile in the 5 position. This compound has been shown to block adenosine-induced platelet aggregation in vivo and inhibit platelet aggregation induced by collagen in vitro. This drug binds to erythrocyte membranes and blocks adenosine uptake into cells, thereby inhibiting its effects.
