CAS:<p>Vatalanib is a new anti-cancer drug that has been developed to inhibit the production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). It also inhibits cell factor (CF) and other biological properties. Vatalanib binds to the active site of the enzyme phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, which is required for cell proliferation and survival. This binding leads to an increase in apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in cancer cells. Vatalanib has been shown to be effective against metastatic colorectal cancer and other solid tumours.
