CAS:ISO-1 is a novel MIF antagonist that has been shown to inhibit the activation of WST-1. ISO-1 is currently being studied for its effects on autoimmune diseases, cancer and bowel disease. ISO-1 blocks the chemoattractant protein CXCL12, which is used to recruit white blood cells to the site of inflammation. It also inhibits enzymes that are involved in oxidative stress and inflammation, such as LOX and COX2. ISO-1 has been shown to inhibit the production of growth factor β1, which is responsible for stimulating cell proliferation. This drug has been tested in an experimental model for epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) and found to have therapeutic potential in bowel disease.
