Benzyl N-ethylcarbamate binds to 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG CoA) reductase, which catalyzes the conversion of HMG CoA to mevalonic acid. This binding inhibits the conversion and prevents cholesterol synthesis by inhibiting the enzyme’s activity.
