CAS:5-HTP is a naturally occurring amino acid and chemical precursor for the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT). It is found in plants, animals, and bacteria. The human body can convert tryptophan to 5-HTP, which then becomes serotonin. This product has been shown to be effective at doses of 100 mg/kg in rats. 5-HTP has been shown to have a significant effect on locomotor activity after administration of either 5-HTP or fluoxetine (Prozac).
