It inhibits the activity of creatine kinase, which is responsible for the conversion of creatine to creatinine in muscle tissue. 2,4-Dimethoxybenzaldehyde oxime has been shown to increase plasma glucose levels in rats by inhibiting the activity of glucokinase. Ip7E is a small molecule that modulates the metabolism of cells and protects them from death by inducing changes in cell nuclei. It also prevents radiation-induced neuronal cell death. Ip7E has been shown to be effective when administered before or after the onset of disease, suggesting it may be a possible diagnostic for neurodegenerative diseases. <br>Ip7E binds to cellular membranes and stabilizes them against oxidative damage, thus protecting cells from death by apoptosis, necrosis, or autophagy.
