CAS:<p>Methyl 2-methyl-4H-thieno[3,2-b]pyrrole-5-carboxylate is a solvent that can be used in the production of other chemicals. It has a number of uses in organic synthesis, including as a chlorinating agent to generate acid chlorides, such as methyl chloroacetate. Methyl 2-methyl-4H-thieno[3,2-b]pyrrole-5-carboxylate is also used in the production of dyes and pharmaceuticals. The methyl ester reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce an electron and chloride ions. This reaction produces heat and causes the solution to change from colorless to dark blue. The reaction can be catalyzed by various metals, such as copper or iron, or by acid chlorides such as thionyl chloride.
