Lazabemide hydrochloride has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of MAO-A and MAO-B and can be detected in maternal blood samples. Lazabemide hydrochloride inhibits the metabolism of monoamines, including serotonin and dopamine, which are neurotransmitters that regulate mood, appetite, sleep patterns, and sexual function.
