CAS:<p>4-Diethylamino-piperidine (DEAP) is a potential antiviral drug that inhibits the replication of hepatitis C virus by targeting the NS5B polymerase. It has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor of the polymerase at micromolar concentrations, and it binds to a site on the enzyme not shared with nucleoside or nucleotide analogs. This binding prevents the formation of the ternary complex required for RNA synthesis, which results in inhibition of viral production. DEAP also inhibits replication of other RNA viruses such as influenza A virus.
