It has been shown to be a useful material for interconnecting metals in x-ray crystallography and in the development of metal chelate antibiotics. 3-[(4-Chlorophenyl)sulfamoyl]thiophene-2-carboxylic acid can also act as an oxidation catalyst, amino acid sequence and to resist photoreceptor degradation.
