    CAS:
    <p>Methyl 2-(2-(chlorosulfonyl)-4,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetate is a potent anticancer drug that is active against cancer cells. It has been shown to inhibit the ATP binding site on the enzyme topoisomerase II. This inhibition may be due to its ability to form covalent bonds with primary amines in the enzyme's active site. Methyl 2-(2-(chlorosulfonyl)-4,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetate inhibits topoisomerase II and prevents DNA unwinding, thereby inhibiting DNA replication and transcription. Methyl 2-(2-(chlorosulfonyl)-4,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetate also inhibits cancer cell growth by blocking DNA replication and transcription. This drug also has a pharmacological effect on the central nervous system; it is an antagonist of the serotonin receptor type 3 (5HT3).</p>
