<p>5-(4-Methoxyphenyl)isoxazole-3-carboxaldehyde (5MI) is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent that exhibits activity against bacteria and fungi. It has been shown to be active against gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, as well as Candida albicans and other pathogenic fungi. 5MI is active in the presence of ethanol, but not in the absence of alcohol. <p>N-Benzyl-4-carboethoxypiperidine (NBP) is a potential drug for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor that blocks the breakdown of acetylcholine, leading to increased levels of this neurotransmitter in the brain.
