This Reagecon 124 mV (± 5mV) Standard acts as a Control or Reference Material. This is because Redox Oxidation/Reduction (ORP) is an absolute measurement and the sensing electrode does not require calibration. This standard is an aqueous suspension of a formazin type product that carries all of the advantages of formazin but eliminates its shortcomings. It is stable; safe; EPA approved and accurate. - Reagecon have developed a proprietary synthetic process that produces a family of products called Turbiform™. These products combine most of the positive attributes of the formazin and AMCO APEA-1 range of standards already available from Reagecon; whilst eliminating most of the shortcomings. Concentrated or saturated Potassium Chloride (KCl) is the optimal electrolyte and filling solution for potentiometric titrations, direct pH measurement, redox or ion measurement where silver/silver chloride or calomel reference electrodes are used. However, saturated KCl is only sparingly soluble below 20°C, so if measurements below this temperature are to be carried out 3M Potassium Chloride remains in solution down to less than 10°C. - A good electrolyte must fulfil a number of conditions. The equitransference of the cation/anion combination should be as close as possible to being equimobile, have constant chloride activity, be of high electrical conductance and be as non-chemically reactive as possible.
