Feichtinger et al. obtained δ,ω,ω’-protected arginine from Z-Glu-OBzl via reduction to the alcohol followed by guanidinylation under Mitsunobu conditions. Additionally, Z-Glu-OBzl has been used as highly effective acyl donor in enzymatic peptide synthesis.
