Synthetic product. Potent antagonist of RANTES and macrophage inflammatory polypeptide-1a (MIP-1a). Met-RANTES inhibited RANTES- or MIP-1a-induced chemotaxis of promonocytic THP-1cells and T-cells. Although Met-RANTES antagonized RANTES and MIP-1a with similar potency in the chemotaxis response it showed a clear difference in the cytokine-induced calcium mobilization assay.
