Triethylsilane is used for the hydrosilation of olefins to prepare alkyl silanes. It acts as a reducing agent in the reduction of 2-chromanols, since it has an active hydride. It acts as a catalyst for redox initiated cationic polymerization, regioselective reductive coupling of enones and allenes, and Beckmann rearrangement of cyclododecanone oxime. It is associated with trifluoroacetic acid and involved in the selective reduction of alkenes. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
