Thiophenol acts as a reagent to synthesize alfa, beta-unsaturated sulfides, beta-lactones and (3H-benzo[c][1,2]diselenol-3-yl)(phenyl)sulfane. It is used as an antinematodal agent and an intermediate in the preparation of sodium thiophenolate, pentachlorothiophenol and alkyl phenylsulfides. It acts as an inhibitor of human fibroblast collagenase in vitro. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio.
