Reagent used in organic synthesis. Unncatalyzed reaction of silyl ketene acetals with oxalyl chloride yeilds symmetrical pulvinic acids. Catalytic syntheses of N-heterocyclic ynones and ynediones by in situ activation of carboxylic acids with oxalyl chloride.
