Lanthanum trifluoromethanesulfonate is used in the Aldol reaction of silyl enol ethers with aldehydes. It is an effective catalyst for the Baylis-Hillman reaction. It also catalyzes Michael additions to methyl vinyl ketone in water. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio.
