Product Information

Name:
Ascomycin
Synonyms:
  • ChangchuanmycinImmunomycinFK 520
Description:

Ascomycin is an antibiotic that is used to treat opportunistic fungal and bacterial infections. It has been shown to be effective against a wide range of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium perfringens, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Ascomycin also has anti-inflammatory properties that may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Ascomycin binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibits protein synthesis. The drug also binds to DNA and RNA in the cell nucleus by intercalating with the bases or by forming covalent bonds with nucleotides. This binding prevents transcription and replication. Ascomycin is metabolized through hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases or conjugation
