Amoxicillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic that has a broad spectrum of activity. It can be used to treat infections caused by bacteria, such as urinary tract infections, pneumonia, and ear infections. Amoxicillin is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to ampicillin, its active form. Amoxicillin trihydrate is the water-soluble salt of amoxicillin. The optimum concentration for this drug is between 1 and 2 mg/mL. It should not be used when group P2 antibiotics are prescribed because it may result in an increase in the blood level of the other drug. Blood sampling should be done before and after administration of amoxicillin trihydrate to determine if there are any interactions with other drugs being taken or if the patient has any contraindications with taking this drug. In vitro methods include wastewater treatment and excipients for pharmaceuticals, while vivo models are often used for human serum studies. Excipients are substances added
