Product Information
N-Acetylamphotericin B is a hydroxylated polyene macrolide antibiotic that is used to treat infections caused by bacteria. It has been shown to affect the phospholipid membranes of infectious organisms, including inhibiting the synthesis of new cell membrane molecules. N-Acetylamphotericin B is effective against Aspergillus fumigatus, which causes aspergillosis. The drug is also effective in treating infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which may be due to its ability to form a matrix effect on the bacterial cell wall. N-Acetylamphotericin B inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the hydroxyl group of tyrosine residues in proteins and disrupting their function. This binding prevents enzymes from functioning properly, leading to inhibition of protein synthesis and subsequent cell death.
