Prochlorperazine is a pharmacological agent that is used in the treatment of symptoms related to infectious diseases. It has been shown to be effective in suppressing the symptoms of infectious diseases, such as influenza and stomach flu. Prochlorperazine also has synergic effects with other drugs, such as sodium carbonate and nasal drugs. The active form of prochlorperazine is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, primarily CYP3A4 and CYP2D6, which are present in human liver microsomes. This metabolism leads to an increase in prochlorperazine concentration after administration. The optimal concentration for prochlorperazine is found to be between 0.5-1 µM, which can be achieved by administering a dose of 5 mg orally or 10 mg intranasally.
