Description:

Mephenesin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent that inhibits the production of prostaglandins. It is used for the treatment of symptoms associated with inflammation and pain. Mephenesin has been shown to inhibit the release of histamine and serotonin from human serum in vitro, as well as inhibiting the action of phenylacetic acid on human erythrocytes. Mephenesin also binds to calcium pantothenate, glycol ether, and other pharmacological agents. Mephenesin has been shown to be chemically stable in an acidic solution, which may be due to its intramolecular hydrogen bonds.
