Description:Terebic acid is a naturally occurring fatty acid with the chemical formula CH(CH)10CO2H. It is found in turpentine, pine resin, and in the human body as a result of oxidation of α-pinene. Terebic acid has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and may be useful for treating inflammatory diseases such as arthritis. The mechanism by which terebic acid inhibits inflammation is unknown, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis or its antioxidant properties. Terebic acid also has been shown to act as a radiation shield and protect against skin cancer when applied topically.
