Description:

Quininone is a chemical compound that contains an aromatic ring and a quinone group, which is composed of two nitrogens and one oxygen. It can be synthesized by the intramolecular addition of hydrochloric acid to calcium stearate in the presence of phosphorus pentachloride. Quininone has been shown to have anticancer activity and is being studied for its potential use as a pharmaceutical agent. The anticancer activity of quininones may be due to their ability to inhibit DNA synthesis, RNA synthesis, protein synthesis, or other cellular processes.
