[(4-Nitrophenyl)carbamoyl]formic acid (NPF) belongs to the class of inhibitors that inhibit enzymes. NPF is a non-competitive inhibitor of phosphatases, which are enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of phosphoric acid esters. NPF has been shown to be an inhibitor of acidic phosphatase activity in human liver and submandibular gland tissue. NPF has also been found to have an inhibitory effect on influenza virus replication in vitro.
