Product Information
Name:Butyl Isovalerate
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Butyl isovalerate is an organic compound that has a formula weight of 136.08. It is a colorless liquid with a pungent, fruity odor. Butyl isovalerate can be synthesized by the acid catalyzed reaction of isovaleric acid and propionate. The compound was first isolated from the seeds of Illicium verum (star anise) in 1858 by A. Vogel and E. Merck, who named it "p-hydroxybenzoic acid". Butyl isovalerate has been used as an analytical reagent for determining hydrogen fluoride levels in water samples, as well as for measuring the amount of p-hydroxybenzoic acid in other organic compounds.
