Tetradifon is a pesticide that belongs to the group of organophosphorus compounds. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of cholinesterases in animal studies, which may be due to its ability to bind to 5-HT2 receptors. Tetradifon has been shown to have genotoxic effects in plants and animals and is toxic for aquatic organisms. Tetradifon also inhibits protease activity, nutrient solution, and enzyme activities. The inhibition of these enzymes leads to metabolic disorders, including obesity, diabetes mellitus type 2, and cardiovascular disease. In addition, Tetradifon has been shown to cause high resistance in insects.
