Description:

2-Cyclohexylphenol is a diphenyl ether that has been used as a reactant in the synthesis of other chemical compounds. It reacts with chlorine at room temperature to form 2-chlorophenol, which is a reaction intermediate. The reaction mechanism for this reaction is not yet known, but it may involve hydrogen bonding and the formation of a carbonyl group. 2-Cyclohexylphenol can be hydrogenated to form 2-cyclohexanol or undergo hydrochloric acid hydrolysis to form cyclohexanone. This compound has an aromatic hydrocarbon structure with a hydroxyl group on the second carbon atom from the end.
