Dichloromethylvinylsilane is a chemical compound that is used as a solid catalyst in cationic polymerization. It is synthesized by reacting hydroxyl-containing organic compounds with copper chloride, hydrochloric acid and particle. The reaction mechanism of dichloromethylvinylsilane can be described as follows: an alkanoic acid reacts with a methyl ethyl group to form an intermediate product, which then reacts with the boron nitride to produce the final product. Dichloromethylvinylsilane has been shown to be useful for wastewater treatment because it can remove fatty acids from wastewaters, such as acetic acid and propionic acid.
