Description:

Trichloromethiazide is a hypoglycemic drug that lowers the blood glucose level by inhibiting the activity of enzymes involved in carbohydrate metabolism. Trichloromethiazide has been shown to inhibit the activity and synthesis of methyl transferase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of methyl groups from S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) to erythrocyte membrane proteins. It also acts as an inhibitor for dapagliflozin, which is a drug used for diabetes treatment. Trichloromethiazide is absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and is excreted in urine unchanged. The absorption enhancer sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) facilitates this process. This drug has been found to bind to receptor sites on cells, which may be related to its anti-inflammatory properties.
