1-Methyl-6-oxo-1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridazine-3-carboxamide is a fatty acid ester with antihistaminic effects. It is used in pharmaceutical preparations as an antitussive and an excipient in diagnostic tests. It has been shown to be effective against acute or chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract, including bronchitis and asthma. 1-Methyl-6-oxo-1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridazine-3-carboxamide has also been shown to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis by acting on the enzyme cyclooxygenase.
