Product Information

Name:
Isoindigo
Synonyms:
  • 2H-Indol-2-one, 3-(1,2-dihydro-2-oxo-3H-indol-3-ylidene)-1,3-dihydro-
  • (3E)-3,3'-biindole-2,2'(1H,1'H)-dione
Description:

Isoindigo is a polycyclic aromatic compound that belongs to the class of polymers. It is chemically stable and has been shown to have an activity index of 0.9 in HL-60 cells. Isoindigo is not toxic, as it does not have any adverse effects on mitochondrial functions or on bowel disease. This polymer is also used for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease because it inhibits inflammation by inhibiting cellular proliferation and intermolecular hydrogen bonding between inflammatory cells. Isoindigo was found to bind to the C-terminal part of hl-60 cell proteins, which suggests that this polymer may be able to interfere with the transport properties of these cells.
