Samidin is a soybean trypsin inhibitor that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on heart tissue. It is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme, having an IC50 of 3.2 μM for soybean trypsin and a K1/2 value of 2.6 μM. Samidin has been shown to be effective in controlling diabetes mellitus by reducing the activity of fatty acid synthase, which is responsible for the synthesis of fatty acids from acetyl-CoA and malonyl-CoA. Samidin also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as a treatment for inflammatory diseases such as cancer or arthritis. Furthermore, it has been shown to reduce the growth of cancer cells through its inhibition of DNA synthesis and protein synthesis in mammalian cells.
