The biological properties of chlorobenzilate are dose-dependent in rats, mice, and hamsters. In addition to inducing CYP enzymes, chlorobenzilate also inhibits fatty acid synthesis by inhibiting the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase at high doses. Chlorobenzilate has been found to have matrix effects when combined with other compounds in the analytical method for determining its concentration in urine samples.
