It has been shown to be active against the mycobacteria in vitro and in vivo. 6-Butoxypyridin-3-amine has also been shown to have an antagonistic effect against helminth populations and parasites, including tuberculosis. In vitro studies have found this drug to be statistically more potent than isoniazid against organisms that cause tuberculosis.
