- 8-Oxosanguinarine
- Hydroxysanguinarine
Oxysanguinarine is a glycol ether compound that inhibits protein synthesis by binding to an active methylene site in the ribosome. It has been shown to be cytotoxic at concentrations of 1-500 microM. Oxysanguinarine has also been shown to have photochemical properties, which may be due to its ability to form n-oxides, with thermal expansion and dry weight values of 11.1 x 10 and 3.2 x 10 respectively. This molecule is structurally related to cryptopine and protopine, with a molecular weight of 288.7 g/mol.
