Description

1-Nitro-2-naphthol is a chemical compound that is classified as a nitrobenzene. It has been shown to cause mutations in the DNA of cells exposed to it, and can be used as an indicator for genotoxic effects. The mechanism of this mutagenicity may be due to the conversion of 1-nitro-2-naphthol to reactive oxygen species such as HNO or ONOO-.
