Product Information
2,3-Dichloropropionic acid is a chemical compound that has been studied as an inhibitor of plant and animal enzymes. The enzyme-inhibiting properties of 2,3-dichloropropionic acid have been well documented in studies with kinetic data and chemical stability. This agent inhibits the activity of carbonic anhydrase, which is involved in catalysis of the conversion of CO2 to bicarbonate. It also inhibits the activity of aminopeptidase, which is important in protein synthesis. 2,3-Dichloropropionic acid also inhibits the activity of succinic dehydrogenase, which catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate in the citric acid cycle. 2,3-Dichloropropionic acid has been shown to be toxic to a number of bacterial strains including Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis; however it does not inhibit growth in Saccharomyces cerevis
