N-Butyl-4-chloro-2-hydroxybenzamide can be used for the treatment of microbial infections such as infectious diseases caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Escherichia coli. The drug has also been shown to have antiocclusive effects on the intestines and to reduce intestinal secretions. N-Butyl-4-chloro-2 hydroxybenzamide is taken orally and it is metabolized in the liver by CYP3A4 enzymes.
