Product Information

Name:
1-Phenylnaphthalene
Synonyms:
  • Naphthalene, 1-phenyl-
  • Naphthalene, 1-phenyl- (8CI)(9CI)
  • Nsc 5257
Description:

1-Phenylnaphthalene is a naphthalene derivative that has been found to have anticancer activity. It inhibits the transport of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells in tissue culture and induces immunomodulatory effects, which may be due to its ability to act as a molecule. 1-Phenylnaphthalene has been shown to have anti-HIV effects, which are likely due to its ability to inhibit the metabolism of microbial organisms. This drug also shows antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and fungi. 1-Phenylnaphthalene has been shown to be thermally stable and can be activated by trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TfOH) at elevated temperatures (>100°C).
