N,N-Diethyl-p-toluidine is an organic solvent that is used in a variety of industrial processes. It is a colorless liquid with a high boiling point and low solubility in water. N,N-Diethyl-p-toluidine can be used as a transport inhibitor for ethanolamine and other amines, which are important for the production of plastics, detergents, and pharmaceuticals. The redox potential of N,N-diethyl p-toluidine has been shown to be -0.9 V vs. Ag/AgCl. This compound has been found to be heat resistant and can be used at higher concentrations than competing compounds such as acetonitrile or dichloromethane.
