Product Information
Name:2,2²-Oxydinaphthalene
Brand:Biosynth
Description:2,2' - Oxydinaphthalene is a reactive compound that is used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. It is a colorless liquid with an odor reminiscent of ether. 2,2' - Oxydinaphthalene can be produced by hydrogenating the corresponding dinitrobenzene derivative at high pressure and temperature. The reaction mechanism involves the formation of a cyclic transition state and release of molecular oxygen. The product can be converted to the trifluoride by treatment with acid fluoride. 2,2' - Oxydinaphthalene reacts readily with diphenyl ethers to form 2-phenoxyethanol, which is then oxidized to give phenol. It also reacts with organometallic compounds such as molybdenum or tungsten dichloride to produce molybdenum or tungsten dihydride respectively.
