Description:1-Benzyl-3-methylbenzene is a diphenyl ether that is used as a diisocyanate. It can be used to create polyurethane plastics. 1-Benzyl-3-methylbenzene reacts with chloride and propyl gallate in the presence of dioxane to produce an alkyl chloride. The alkyl chloride is then reacted with dioxane and water to produce a disulphide. This process yields an isolated yield of 1-benzyl-3-methylbenzene, which has optical properties that are identical to benzene.
