It was also found to be potent inducers of glutathione-S-transferase activity, which may be related to its use as a preservative for food. 3-Benzylpyridine can also be used to control levels of diarylmethanes and sulfadiazine, which are effective against bacteria. 3-Benzylpyridine has shown anticancer effects, but it is not yet known how this compound exerts its effect on cancer cells.
