Product Information

Name:
Ethylene Glycol Dibenzyl Ether
Synonyms:
  • Ethylene glycol dibenzyl ether
  • 1,1'-[Ethane-1,2-Diylbis(Oxymethanediyl)]Dibenzene
  • 1,2-Dibenzyloxyethane
Description:

Ethylene glycol dibenzyl ether is a triazine compound that is used as a corrosion inhibitor in polyvinyl chloride. It reacts with deionized water and hydrogen chloride to form a chiral product with an optical rotation of -20°. The optimal reaction occurs at temperatures between room temperature and 100°C, with a reaction time of 2 hours. Ethylene glycol dibenzyl ether has been shown to react with aldehyde groups and chloride ions, which leads to the formation of organometallic compounds. This chemical also has organic solvent properties, which make it compatible with most solvents.
