Description:
2,5-Diacetoxytoluene is a diacetate that has been used as a liquid crystal and as a polymerization catalyst. It can be used to modify the polymerization kinetics of diacetate monomers. 2,5-Diacetoxytoluene also has chemical diversity and is used in the production of polyesters, polyurethanes, thermoplastic elastomers, and polyamides. This compound can be immobilized with p-hydroxybenzoic acid on a substrate film for use in optical devices such as polarizers or liquid crystal displays. The mesomorphic phase of this compound is characterized by a diameter that ranges from 1 nm to 10 micrometers.
