Description:
2,4-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxane is an antibacterial agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria by inhibiting their ability to form a cell wall. It is active against staphylococcus and other gram positive bacteria. 2,4-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxane also has been shown to be effective in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. This compound can be used as an analog for other compounds with anti-diabetic properties. The functional groups on this compound are responsible for its inhibition activity against acid formation and inhibition activity.
