Malonic Acid-D4 is a chemical compound that has the chemical formula C6H5CO2(CHOH)2. It is a colorless solid that is soluble in water and ethanol. Malonic acid-D4 is used as a chemical intermediate in organic synthesis and as an analytical reagent. The malonic acid-d4 molecule has two stereoisomers, or two molecules that are mirror images of one another. The two stereoisomers of malonic acid-d4 can be distinguished by their proton resonance (NMR) spectra. They have different chemical shifts, which depend on the number of hydrogen atoms attached to the malonic acid. The deuterated form of malonic acid-D4 has higher efficiency for NMR spectroscopy than chloroacetic acid because it does not interfere with the HOD spectrum shift or cause line broadening due to its large number of protons. This also allows for more accurate measurements of the resonance frequency,
